In my personal opinion, autocross is one of the best and cheapest ways to get into motorsport; the events themselves aren’t too expensive, speeds generally aren’t overly high, and if you do hit something it’s usually just a pylon so there’s minimal damage. It’s fun, quick, and a great way to develop and improve your driving skills, as evident from the second round of StratoCross last week. There were plenty of new faces which was great to see, but I also noticed quite a bit of improvement from the drivers returning from round one. Autocross is always timed as well, so besides bragging rights and cool awards by RA Motorsports, drivers have the added benefit of using their run times to gauge progress (or mistakes).
StratoCross will be taking a break next week, but don’t freight, because next Thursday is the first StratoAttack event! Instead of an autocross layout, this event will feature a point A to point B timed sprint utilizing a portion of the road course. Drivers will then have to get out of the car, run through an obstacle course, spin around a baseball bat ten times, then get back into their cars and reverse all the way back to the start. Or will they?
I’ll see you all then!
