After the success of the first DMS Noob School (yes we’re spelling it as “noob” now instead of “newb”) with multiple people waitlisted along with others inquiring, Dan at DMS Timing decided to host a second Noob School to help even more people get their feet wet in the world of motorsport. The format was mostly the same with the evening starting off with a course walk, followed by parade laps, followed by practice time reserved specifically for the newcomers, then finally an open practice session for everyone. At the end of the event, Dan held a mini slalom contest for everyone to get absolutely destroyed by a Stohr racing car.
I was on hand again to not only capture the action of the day, but to also help instruct a couple friends who I may or may not have pressured into attending. My one student/friend in particular has been saying that he wanted to get on track for the better part of the last decade now, constantly building different cars over the years but never once setting foot on a circuit. With enough persuasion from yours truly, he finally made it out in a rather stock 350Z and had an absolute blast. I’m not bringing this up to poke fun at him, but rather to make a point; if you want to try out motorsport yourself, all you need is a mechanically sound car and a helmet. That’s it. Come out, see what it’s all about, and most importantly have fun and stay safe while enjoying this wonderful hobby.
Until next time.
