DMS Noob School means that track season is officially kicking off! For new visitors to the site, this is an event catered specifically towards people looking to try some track driving for the first time, but with some proper guidance from fellow experienced drivers.
The evening starts off with a drivers meeting followed by a track walk, where drivers are introduced to both Stratotech Park as well as the various configurations of cones often found in autocross. Shortly afterwards, multiple parade laps are conducted in both an autocross configuration as well as a “track sprint” layout which essentially gives participants a taste of circuit driving with no cones on certain sections of the track.
Lastly, practice runs are held for the remainder of the event and this is where the learning truly happens. Not only is the track open up to drivers to get as much practice in for the remainder of the evening, but a group of experienced drivers volunteer to help instruct newcomers which really accelerates the learning process. There is definitely a lot to learn when it comes to motorsports and car control, and having someone who knows what they’re doing sitting next to you certainly helps to make sense of it all.
If you’re interested in attending such an event then you’ll have to wait until next year as the Noob School is only held once per season, but be sure to check out DMS Time Trials for their schedule of events for the remainder of the season!
