This season has so far been filled with nothing but heavy rain, storms, hail, floods, and let’s not forget the ever present army of mosquitos too while we’re at it. It’s certainly made enjoying our summer toys a little bit on the trickier side and has even led to multiple events being either cancelled or rescheduled, one of which was the annual Porsche Club Of America (PCA for short) Polar Region Concours event. The casual show and shine was originally scheduled for June, but thanks to Mother Nature, was unfortunately rained out. Rather thankfully however, it happened to get rescheduled for one of the best weekends we’ve seen so far this summer, and for the first time giddy I was also participating instead of just attending, but more on that later.
For now, let’s take a look at someone of the amazing machinery in attendance on that fine Saturday afternoon.
Lineup of fried eggs for the day.
A very unexpected surprize was this 991.2 GT2 RS finished in Miami Blue.
Dave’s G-Body. Turns out we’ve done a track day together back when he used to have an FR-S and I was still tracking my Integra.
Paul of Eurasia Automotive’s G-Body on Fuchs.
Peter’s 993.1 Carrera RS Tribute was the sole 993 in attendance.
Lorne’s GORGEOUS 997.2 in Racing Green Metallic on 19” Fuchs.
And finally, this is my 996.2. While a 993 is still (and forever will be) the dream, I’ve always had a soft spot for the 996 generation and have wanted one since I was a kid. After searching for about a year and a half I finally came across this particular one here. I asked a couple friends to inspect it for me before hand and the car checked all the right boxes; it all felt right, so here we are!
Parked right next to me was Arthur’s 996.2 GT3.
Another big surprize for me was this 911 Speedster. I definitely prefer 911’s in coupe form over cabriolets, but there’s just something about the way the Speedster frames the rest of the body since the air cooled days that really makes the open-top look work for me.
I was super excited to see a real 356 in attendance.
Thank you so much to the PCA Polar Region for organizing this incredibly fun event which is always open
to the public (if you haven’t checked it out before I highly recommend that you do), and of course
another big thank you to Porsche Center Edmonton for always being so generous towards the PCA and
supporting the club in various ways over the years. I’ve attended multiple times now and can now say
that it’s equally as fun and enjoyable as both a spectator and a participant.
I can’t wait till next year!
