Saturday May 2nd, 2015, a date that many people will remember as the biggest fight in boxing history as the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. would finally take on Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao.
For me however, it meant that it was time for the annual 780Tuners Season Opener. What can I say, cars>boxing.
My day started out with the YEG86 meet out in Hawrelak Park where a bunch of FR-S/BRZ enthusiasts gathered to kick the day off before the main event.
Needless to say, one of these is not like the others…
Really liked the combination of the C-West kit, Winjet headlights, and ViS AMS Style hood on this FR-S, but it needs wheels badly!
Peter’s FR-S is looking as good as ever with a full TRD kit and TE37SL Black Editions.
Looks like I wasn’t the only one crashing the 86 meet as Sean decided to show up in his fully race prepped Evo X.
Unfortunately nature would go through a mini series of mood swings on Saturday and we soon got rained out of the park…
…but even the rain wasn’t enough to stop the car guys and gals coming out. Eventually we made our way over to good old United Cycle where hundreds of cars were already gathering for what is the biggest meet of the year.
I rarely see JDM S14’s here but when I do they are minty fresh!
If I’m not mistaken, I believe this is the second R34 GTR in Edmonton!
I never get tired of seeing this car.
It’s too bad we don’t see too many S15’s around since they’ve been legal as they are beautiful cars.
Very juicy colored wrap on this Impreza, and it is currently for sale too!
Adam’s FR-S looking super clean despite the nasty weather.
The infamous Impreza that I see everywhere I go (even in different provinces!).
Very aggressive looking S2000 that I believe is turbocharged. It’s a little hard to tell in the picture but the rear wing setup is equally aggresive.
Jessie White’s 260Z never gets old.
A super clean pair of DC5’s chilling in the back.
Lexus IS rolling on some Velvet Carmine Gram Light 57Xtreme’s.
This SA RX-7 looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor.
A very loud duo (in a good way) that kept backfiring at even the slightest touch of the throttle. Awesome.
I remember I used to see Phoenix Yellow ITR’s all the time as a kid but these days they seem to have all just vanished.
Not exactly sure what was going on here…
One of my favourite S13 drift cars now rocking an appropriately large wing.
Jorge’s FC seems to have also managed to stay clean despite the weather.
Jason Hoang’s FR-S sitting next to the wall way over in the Save On Foods parking lot. I ran into this car as well as some of the ill.motion guys earlier in the day and it was nice and clean then, but unfortunately it would be one of the many cars to fall victim to Mother Nature.
Sadly I don’t know my classic domestics but this was looking pretty good to me!
This AE86 definitely caught my eye as it rolled in…
…and then proceeded to make me deaf as the owner revved the absolute life out of the ITB’d 1UZ. This thing was LOUD!
That’s one way to make use of a sunroof.
Aaron Day’s LS powered drift S13 sporting some new colors this year.
Being a DSM guy myself, it was nice to see such a clean example of a 2G. Really makes me miss my old Eclipse…
Most of the exotic guys were busy watching the fight that night, but one guy made it out in this Bentley Continental GT.
Interesting looking S2000 with what appears to be a light bar in the front bumper.
The only Ultima GTR in Edmonton (probably in Western Canada actually) still turns and confuses heads everywhere it goes.
The old Blackout Auto Tinting RSX sporting a brand new matte blue wrap.
Terry’s Evo IX still looking good with the bronze TE37’s.
Those of you who have me on FaceBook may have caught a glimpse of the very first R34 GTR in Edmonton last fall. Seems like Lukasz has been busy over the winter adding the new TE37’s, Bride seats, carbon wing risers, and much more underneath!
Leo of First Gear also made it out that night in his obscenely loud FR-S…
…that is now sporting some extra power thanks to an HKS supercharger!
Want something practical, fast, AND good looking? Then a Nissan Stagea with an R34 front end conversion such as this one may be just the thing for you.
I’m a big fan of the 500 Abarth so I was quite excited to see this modified one as it’s a rare thing to see over here in Edmonton.
Looks like Tom also made it out in the S2000, but why you no close the roof in these cold conditions?!
Maybe it’s just a drop-top guy thing as the owner of this FC convertible was also rolling with the top down.
Turbocharged BRZ rocking an FR-S front bumper with Rocket Bunny over fenders and wing.
A very clean Toyota Corona rolling by.
It’s super rare to see such a clean 240SX these days.
Sadly due to the weather, many people left earlier than previous years, but hopefully Mother Nature will be a bit kinder to us car follks next year!

Very nice cars!
The old pickup is mine, it’s a 1946 GMC :) If you have any more pictures of it I would love to see them!
Unfortunately that was the only snap I got of it, but it looks awesome man!
thanks for the pic of my FRS! Looks great!
No problem! Thank you for the pic of my Integra you snapped earlier that day!
