Despite there being tons of different things to look at and spend your money on at the Edmonton Expo, it’s actually the cosplayers that I’m always looking forward to the most (that and the Artist Alley).
Just like any other blank canvas, the amounts of options when it comes to bringing your favourite fictional characters to life are endless.
Just like the Artist Alley, I find it fascinating to see peoples different interpretations of the same thing, so let’s take a look at some of their end creations.
As always my own group has come up with some new outfits as seen here by David as Poe Dameron, Jessica as Cerys, Priscilla as Ciri, and of course Titus in his trusty Toon Link outfit!
I’ve seen many good Master Chief’s in the past but this is the first one I’ve seen wielding the almighty rocket launcher.
Malicious looking Pyramid Head and nurse duo.
Remember not all cosplays have to be a crazy elaborate outfit.
In the end it’s all about having fun!
I’ve absolutely no idea how that pumpkin is being held onto the sword…
Battled-scarred looking Geralt.
Don’t remember where these characters are from but amazing work nonetheless.
Yeah that’s not creepy at all or anything…
Without a doubt my favourite cosplay of the event was this Mark I Iron Man suit. This is about as real as it gets folks.
The attention to detail was incredible and really had to be seen in person to be fully appreciated.
I’m not sure if this is actually a cosplay or just fancy dresses but lovely looking ladies regardless.
Now THAT’S how Scarecrow should look. None of that silly “just a mask” nonsense, this is what nightmares are made of!
One thing I noticed in particular at this Expo was just how many children there were dressed up as their favourite characters.
Glad to see them getting an early start to this incredibly fun hobby!
Awesome looking Nurse Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy duo.
Remember what I said about different interpretations? If no one told me I would never have guessed that this was a Nightmare Freddy from Five Nights At Freddy’s.
Super classy Stormtrooper/Vader combo. Easily another one of my favourites from the show.
First Squirrel Girl I’ve seen!
Hands down the best dressed family at the Expo.
Sailor Saturn and Sailor Pluto showing that not everything with ladies is sunshine lollipop rainbows.
Very mean looking Ike that just screams attitude. Love it.
Another cosplay I’ve never seen before was Ursula, as seen here taking a break from the days festivities.
Right next to Ursula was yet again another first for me, Mister Geppetto! Really glad to see that people haven’t forgotten about the classics.
Who else is excited to see where Marvel will take the new Spiderman movie series?!
Super well done gargoyle outfit. This gentleman spent an incredible amount of time creating almost every part of this costume from scratch himself. Amazing.
As you can see I eventually moved outside to snap some more photos where people were starting to settle down for the day.
The tall grass is always the go-to spot for photos as there’s really not a whole lot around for scenery by the Expo Center…
…but that’s fine by me because I think this backdrop works for pretty much anything!
Stay tuned for more as we’ll be taking a closer look at my groups new cosplays!
