Time for something a little different! I recently got the chance to shoot a couple beauty pageants, Miss Asia Calgary and Miss Vietnam Canada, which is something new for me. I attended my first pageant last year so I at least had an idea of what to expect. That being said, these photos are of two different pageants, just posted together.
It’s also been quite a while since I’ve shot anything like this; these days all it is is cars, cosplays, and conventions for me, so this was rather refreshing. In fact, I used to shoot quite a bit of dance and live performances, so this definitely brought back memories. I also happen to shoot the head shots for some of the delegates which I have included some shots of below. When I first started photography I used to use lighting equipment all the time but then sort of just stopped, so this was a good opportunity to brush up on my studios skills as well.
