It’s that time of year again where my season pretty much comes to an end; the days are getting shorter, the weather’s getting colder, and we patiently await the arrival of Christmas…
…but first, expo time! More specifically, the Edmonton Expo, back again for its sixth annual show here in town.
The Expo attracts tens of thousands of people each year as there are many different things to see, do, and even buy! Let’s take a look at some of those things now…
…starting with the retro themed stand-up arcade by Retro Active Arcades!
Each cabinet was filled was all the best cabinet games of yesteryear, from Tetris, Street Fighter, TMNT, and Pac Man, just to name a few.
Neko Atsume is continuing to rise in popularity, as made evident from the large assortment cat-themed items found everywhere, such as this Neko umbrella!
Speaking of cats that are still as popular as ever…
I don’t even know what to say about this shirt but it was too awesome to not post.
Very neat Eevee (and evolutions) themed dress from Oddity Apparel by Angelyques.
God I love the name of this game and its expansions.
There was tons of Disney X Loungefly purses and wallets which I actually quite liked, except you know, I’m not a girl so I don’t have any use for them…
What would you ask Mr. Meeseeks for?
I was glad to see that The Nightmare Before Christmas hasn’t been forgotten after all these years. There were even some impressive cosplays from the series that we’ll see in the next post!
Oh yeah, Pokemon hasn’t been forgotten either. Mimikyu seemed to be the post popular pocket monster this year too for whatever reason…
Pretty neato cat themed bag, complete with a whole fish on the bottom!
If you like Hi-CHEW, try out these Sour Lime flavoured ones! On a side note, if you ever get the chance to try Dr. Pepper candy, don’t…
SUPER cool sumo salt and pepper shakers. They even have a magnet on each one to keep their bellies attached when not in use!
Some pretty classy looking Iron Man cufflinks.
One of my favourite items at the show were hands-down the bronze figures by William Miles.
Each figure is individually casted and are incredibly detailed. William also has a variety of figures ranging from all your favourite shows and games such as Zelda, Hatsune Miku, Star Wars, and Rozen Maiden, just to name a few.
SUPER soft cat plush imported from Japan. Like, SUPER soft.
Equally super soft giant pink rabbit plush, also from Japan!
Plenty of other tiny plushies from Japan, but not as soft to touch as the previous two…
I didn’t catch the name of this booth but they had a rather large and diverse variety of framed butterflies. A little out of place at a comic expo if you ask me, but still super cool to see nevertheless.
Wool & Needles have lots of crotched goods available each year, but this time it was their Cup Cozy’s that caught my eye!
As always, NALUG had a plethora of elaborate LEGO displays for everyone to feast their eyes upon.
Huge Clone Turbo Tank (Star Wars).
Equally giant Enterprise (Star Trek).
Incredibly soft (again!) shirts from Klosed Beta featuring pretty much the entire diet of your average otaku…
Some very intricate lamps/light boxes from LightBox Project.
Each box has wireless controlled RGB LED’s…
…and also feature different designs on each side!
Full set of Monster Hunter Stories amiibo’s which are hands down the most detailed amiibo’s I have ever seen.
Laser engraved crystals are nothing new, but I’ve definitely never seen this crystal Pokeballs, laser engraved with your favourite Pokemon on the inside! Very cool.
I can’t get enough of these Ditto’s!
Super kawaii octopi creations by Tenta.co who are actually based out of Toronto.
Wow has it been that long already…
Almost didn’t notice this Bomb lamp stashed away in the corner…
Crazy impressive replica Plasma Rifle by MK Props.
No time to modify your own Dunnies? No problem! Chris Moet offers many different completed Dunnies that you can take home with you.
Artist Catherine Dubois features this, er, creature, in some pretty interesting drawings such as the bathtub one seen here!
Very cute BMO planter from Madcap Goods.
This year Bioware had a giant canvas for everyone to color in!
Pretty cool idea and great way to get everyone involved, not to mention that it looks amazing.
Also props to everyone for not drawing a bunch of penis’ everywhere…
More cool night lights from Nitrogeek.
Pickle Rick was EVERYWHERE this weekend…
That’s all for now but be sure to check out the full album (link below) to see more from this years expo. Next up, cosplayers!
