Evening Drive In An Evo V

For those who aren’t familiar, Canadian law dictates that any vehicle being imported into the country that was not originally designed for Canadian vehicle regulations (with the exception of US vehicles) must be at least fifteen years or older.

That being said, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V is now available for import!

While this is technically old news, we’ve only recently been seeing more and more of this amazing machine prowling the roads.

The one you see here before you is owned by a friend of mine. He invited me out one night to snap some shots of this beautiful car, as well as go for a test drive!

I could stare at this all day.

The car is relatively stock with just a Fujitsubo exhaust, downpipe, coilovers, Defi boost gauge w/Defi Link, Evo IX steering wheel, and Evo IX wheels wrapped in Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs. However, even with just minor modifications, the car is still very quick and the handling is very responsive.

Given that this is a 15 year old car, the turbo setup was a bit laggy and reminded me of my old Eclipse GSX!

Personally I think these cars look great as they are and that you really don’t need much else to make it look good. This also happens to be my favourite generation of Evo!

_DSC6005
As with all Evos, the car comes equipped with comfy yet supportive Recaro seats from the factory.

The Evo IX steering wheel blends in with the older interior quite nicely.

I also like how simple the OEM gauge cluster looks as well.

After going for a quick cruise, I must say, this is a very fun car to drive! Now where did I put my copy of Legend Of Speed…
